The Golden Tae Kwon Do Family Center has been providing top-notch martial arts instruction for over 15 years. Students learn traditional Moo Duk Kwan and WTF Tae Kwon Do in positive, supportive environment. Our goal is to teach not only the physical aspects of martial arts but to instill a positive mental attitude and to help all of our students reach their full potential. We strive to help our students achieve "knowledge in the mind, honesty in the heart, and strength in the body". The studio is very family-friendly and values participation by students of all ages. Many of our black belts began practicing with their children and now enjoy coming to class as a family activity. Our children's classes are fun but also help young students learn to pay attention and the value of self-discipline. Our adult classes are great exercise and can be just the thing to beat the stress of a workday. We offer special classes as well, including sessions focused just on Olympic-style sparring or forms, black belt club for advanced students, and weapons instruction. OUR INSTRUCTORS Kwang Jang Nim, Master Dok Kim, 6th Degree Black Belt Born and raised in Seoul, South Korea, Master Dok Kim began studying traditional Moo Duk Kwan Tae Kwon Do And WTF TaeKwon Do when he was six years old. Became very active in Olympic style competition. As a teenager he won numerous tournament awards. In 1989 Master Kim moved with his family to Colorado where he began studying tae kwon do under renowned instructor Master Jung Lee. While studying in Master Lee's Won Shim Tae Kwon Do Academy Master Kim advanced in Sul Sa Do, a traditional martial art focusing on self defense and weapons techniques, in addition to further pursuit of Olympic style competition. Over the years he has practiced a variety of martial arts including Yudo, Hapkido, Kumdo, and kick boxing. In 2003 he was promoted to 6th Dan in Moo Duk Kwan Tae Kwon Do. Master Kim has taught traditional Korean martial arts in the Golden area for nearly fifteen years and has run the Golden Tae Kwon Do Family Center for the last eleven. In addition he has taught at Mitchell, Ralston, and Bergen Meadow Elementary Schools for a number of years and directs the Colorado School of Mines Tae Kwon Do club. Sah Bum Nim, Master Myung Kim, 5th Degree Black Belt Master Kim's many accomplishments in Tae Kwon Do have often mirrored his those of his older brother, Dok. The two grew up practicing together and motivating each other. While a student at the University of Colorado he was very active in competition and won 2nd and 3rd place awards in sparring and poomse divisions at the national collegiate championships. Master Kim spent many years as assistant instructor at the Golden school. In addition to traditional tae kwon do he is an expert in kumdo or Korean swordsmanship. Currently Master Myung Kim operates the Louisville Tae Kwon Do Family Center and is Head Coach for the CU Tae Kwon Do team. Kyo Soo Nim Jin Kim, 4th Degree Black Belt Jin Kim arrived in the U.S. in 2005 from his home country of South Korea. He holds a 4rth degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do and has attained the rank of Master in Hae Dong Kumdo. He serves as assistant instructor at the Golden studio. |
